While comparisons to Ella Fitzgerald are common because of her warm alto voice, her early influences were mostly Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin. McKelles voice mirrors the power of those three vocal titans while maintaining the refined nuances of Fitzgerald.
